John 15:4 "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." Hello welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. I have a Scripture to share with you today coming from John chapter 15 verse 4. You may be very familiar with it but it's very important. It's where Jesus says, "Remain in Me, and I will also remain in you." "Take every step in faith" How crucial it is to realize that the greatest thing that we can do is to remain in Christ. What does that mean, what does it mean to remain in Him? Does it mean that we stay at home with just our Bibles does it mean that we stay in the prayer closet? No...what it means is that we continue to make every step to take every step in faith knowing that apart from Christ there is no good thing. "Without remaining in His Word we cannot do a thing that is good" Without His blessing without His love in our hearts without remaining in His word and just continuing to trust in Him…

Psalm 36:9 "For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. I have great news for all the listeners today and it comes from Psalm 36 verse 9. The word says "For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light." "Are you dry, are you thirsty?" God is saying today that there is a fountain that never runs dry. There is a fountain of life. You see many people choose to drink and live from the fountains of this world. Fountains of money, fountains of things. All these things that are temporary and leave us dry weary and thirsty. But God says today there is a fountain that never runs dry. There is a fountain that you can drink from and never thirst but find satisfaction in the deapths of your souls. That fountain is the Lord Jesus. He said in the scriptures come to me, come to me and drink from the fountain of everlasting rivers of over flowing water. And that water, those waters are the very breath and life that the Lord Jesus gives…

1 Samuel 3 "And the Lord came and called as before, 'Samuel! Samuel!' And Samuel replied, 'Speak, your servant is listening.'” Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. I'm very excited to share a few verses here of a story about a young boy named Samuel, and we're gonna be looking at first Samuel chapter 3. I encourage you to read this entire chapter as God I know can speak so much through His Word, but I'm only going to share a few verses. "We are all called to serve in the house of the Lord" And to give you an idea of the story, Samuel is a young boy who is dedicated to serving the Lord in His house and around this time history states that he was probably around 11 years old. Samuel was being trained by his mentor Eli who was the head priest at the time. And you can imagine this young boy who was so excited to learn of what it meant to serve God to walk with Him and to follow Him. "Speak Lord for your servant is listening..." And for us today maybe we're not in a ministry, maybe we're not, you…

Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Hello welcome back to the One Thing Podcast! The question that we have for today is: How do we begin? You may be saying to yourself and even beginning to pray to God saying "Father I want to come close to you, I don't want to live apart from you, I don't want to wander away from your ways, but lord Jesus I want to come close to you, to get to know you. I want to know your word." "We begin with the fear of the Lord..." There maybe so many different things that you are seeking with God and you're wondering how do you begin. Praise God His word is so precious and so dear and also so clear. Proverbs 9 10 says "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." This is right where we began in the Christian life. We begin with the fear of the Lord, saying "Father release your fear into my life." The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Knowledge The fear of the Lord is not like the fear of the world that…

Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. For the Lord gives wisdom from his mouth come knowledge and understanding...that's Proverbs 2 verse 6. And proverbs, the book of wisdom it teaches us and helps us to learn how to live right in a pleasing way before God. "What wisdom are you in need of today?" And so it says the Lord gives wisdom. What wisdom are you in need of today? Are you trying to figure out how to please God? Are you looking for how this day you can bring Him honor and bring Him glory? Well in order to bring God glory, in order to serve Him we need His wisdom. But this is a great hope because the very God that requires us to walk in his wisdom is also the One who gives it! What is the wisdom of God? The wisdom of God is His skillfulness and His way of doing things, it's taking on Jesus' godliness, Jesus' way of making decisions and walking before his father. So ultimately wisdom is Jesus. "...wisdom…

Psalm 22:3 "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel." Welcome to the One Thing Podcast, we know that this is a special week this week as many of us are preparing for Thanksgiving. And Thanksgiving we know is a time of enjoying food together with family for some people is traveling for some people are looking forward to the shopping but we today want to be reminded of one of the greatest things that a Christian can do. The greatest thing which is to thank God, to be thankful in our hearts not just for one day but to literally live a life of thankfulness. But we can reflect on this this week. We can really think about all the wonderful things that God has done and know what's so incredible is that for the Christian we yes we thank God for the great things that He does. We thank Him for you know when things are going well but even more powerful is the Christian who even in the best of circumstance even some of the worst situations that we can still look up and give God glory and praise…

Psalm 34:9-10 "Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." "To fear God means this, that we worship Him with more than just song, but with our lives." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast! Today I'd like to share with you Psalm 34 verses 9 through 10 it says, “fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.” God is instructing us, He says, “my holy people” you his holy people, fear the Lord. The fear of the Lord, we know, is the beginning of wisdom. It's the beginning of understanding God and knowing Him. To fear God means this, that we worship Him with more than just song, but with our lives. It's where we revere God as the God who spoke from the very beginning. He said, “let there be light” and there was light in all of the universe! He is God who gives and takes away. He is…

Psalm 128 "Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours." "All I know is that the greatest thing you could do is fear the Lord." Hello, and welcome to the One Thing Podcast. It's very interesting this morning, I was thinking about the book of Ecclesiastes and when you read that book it's from Solomon, a man who had experienced all the riches of the world, he experienced travel and in all the gold, all the silver, everything; and yet his conclusion at everything that he learned as being one of the wisest man to ever lived, was in the ending of that book he says, all I know is that the greatest thing you could do is fear the Lord. obedience to god brings blessings And I was really thinking about that and so I was brought to the Psalm 128 verses 1 and 2. And it says, “Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.” And so…

Philippians 2:13 "...for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose." Hello, and welcome back to the One Thing podcast! Today we're reading from the book of Philippians. today chapter 2 verse 13 and it says for it is God who is effectively at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure. "The work that God does is a work that comes through faith..." And I love this verse because as Christians we have to understand the work of God in our lives. You see the work that God does is a work that comes through faith and because of our trust in Him, because of the hope that we have in the Lord Jesus something even happens in our physical bodies. It causes us to move. It causes us to work and to do the things that God has called us to do. But one thing that's so important to remember, this scripture is saying that God is doing His work, He's bringing about His will in our lives not because we deserve it not because of anything good or bad that we've done but simply…

1 Timothy 1:18-19 The Charge to Timothy Renewed "Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." Hello welcome back to the One Thing Podcast...reading a scripture from the book of first Timothy today. It's first Timothy chapter one verses 18 or 19 and this is Paul speaking to Timothy who he considered to be a son in the faith. Timothy was his right side man, he was a man who loved Paul and really love the Lord. And Paul is speaking to Timothy, he's giving him instruction.... Timothy being a young man in such a defiled world, a world that comes against everything about the message of the gospel but here we find this man Timothy who many of us can relate to being in a place where we want to stand for the Lord. We want to do what He has called us to do and Paul is giving him a…

Psalm 33:5 "The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love." Psalm 6:4 "Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love." Psalm 13:5 "But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. I wanted to share just something so incredible that the Lord was impressing on my heart this day. The word that I was really beginning to understand is His unfailing love. I started to think about all throughout the Scriptures and there's numerous Scriptures - I can't list them all but I'm going to list a few - that speak about God's unfailing love. Psalm 33:5 says “The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of His unfailing love.” Psalm 6:4 says “Turn Lord and deliver me, save me because of Your unfailing love.” Psalm 13:5 “but I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation.” "What's so spectacular about God's unfailing love is that this love is powerful to deliver…

Psalm 91:1 "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." "Is the Lord your dwelling? Is the Lord your shelter?" Hello, and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast! Today I would like to share a very beautiful psalm, and it is Psalm 91! We're gonna begin with the first verse, but even as we begin I would like to ask the question today: Is the Lord your dwelling? Is the Lord your shelter? Now, verse one it says, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” And I love this because we're in a time right now in which we know that things like the coronavirus, things like the flu, and all sorts of sicknesses seem to be growing at such a rapid pace. It's grown to a point where kids are not in school, where businesses are closing and it's not just in our nation, but it's literally a worldwide thing. And what is happening right now? The government, people, everybody's looking for a safe dwelling. Nobody wants to be infected, you…

Proverbs 7:21-23 "With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk. All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. Today I'd like to ask you the question: What entices you? See, one thing I've learned in life is that every single day there's always something tugging and pulling for our attention, for our hearts, for our minds - there's always something. We live in a world, and we know that the world - the Bible says the spirit of the world is in opposition to the Spirit of God. So we know that living in this world - the spirit of the world is always looking to draw us away - away from who? Away from God. Vice versa, the Spirit of the Lord is always speaking and always looking to draw God's people to Himself. "People...can be caught or enticed or pulled away if we're not on…

Psalm 130:5 "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope." "What do you do in the waiting?" Hello and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. Today I'd like to ask you the question: What do you do in the waiting? That's right - when there's something that you're waiting for, what are you doing - when there's something maybe you're waiting for from God, something big maybe something small - what do you do in the waiting? We live in a world where waiting has become a foreign word. We live in a world where waiting has been the last thing really on our list to do. We can order things on our cellphones in a matter of moments, we don't really even have to wait to get home to get on our laptops or on our computer, right? We don't have to wait for much even when we order things we have all sorts of shipping options that we can pay extra money to maybe get something overnight rather than waiting for two days, rather than waiting for five days - even if it's something that we don't need in…

Ecclesiastes 7:4 "A wise person thinks a lot about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time." True Wisdom Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. What does it mean to be wise? Now, wisdom can mean a lot of different things - and a lot of good things. But, one thing I would like to share with you today is something dear to my own heart, and it's a Word that I want to share from Ecclesiastes; but before I get there, I want to talk about foolishness. What does the Bible consider to be foolishness before the eyes of God? What does it mean to be a foolish person? One thing that I've realized in this Scripture is that the most foolish thing that we can do, or the most foolish way that we can live our lives, is to not realize that one day our lives will end. What do I mean by that? "...there will be a day that we close our eyes to never wake up again to now meet our Maker..." Today, when we think about the youth or we think about many adults even, and the message that is portrayed through…

Matthew 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Today the Lord had placed a verse on my heart, and it's a very familiar verse probably to many of you listening. And what I love about it is its simplicity. And I'm praying today that, even as we share this verse, that God would shed a new light in each one of our hearts to give us a new understanding, and to really further His Kingdom in our lives. "‘Beyond everything, make your aim - make your focus - My Kingdom, and everything else will fall into place - everything else will be okay.’" And so it’s Matthew chapter 6, verse 33. It says, “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness…” The rest of the verse speaks about everything else being added unto us - which is all important. But the one part that I wanted to focus on is to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness. And when we look at this, what is it that God is trying to speak? He’s…

2 Thessalonians 3:5 "May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. I couldn't help but to think today as I look at the news - I see different platforms in the media - of a lot of people expressing themselves. When we see our nation and we even look at the world as a whole, there are different gatherings there are all sorts of protest and - not that every single one is terrible and not that every single person is a terrible person - not saying that. But what I am finding is that there is a huge mass of expression coming from anger or disagreement, and a lot of those expressions - the way that man has been expressing themselves - has been through violence. Violent acts, maybe rioting or, you know as we look at the news we see people breaking stores open and all sorts of things that are just terrible. "When man is in darkness he expresses himself in darkness." But when we really look at the world and we look at what the world has…

Mark 1:11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Hello and welcome to the One Thing podcast. A question for today, some thought for our hearts and our minds is: What pleases God? What can we do to make God happy? What can we do to truly please God and bring a smile to Him, to have something to truly delight in? What is it that we can do? What type of people should we be? I asked this question to a few different people, and there were a couple different answers that I began to get. One person said, “I truly believe that my effort of working really hard is pleasing to God when I just give it my all and I really do a great job”. Another person actually responded and said, “I think I have a really hard time pleasing God. You know, part of me really wants to do a good job at it. Another part of me just seems to fail miserably over and over and it's so difficult to please Him”. And lastly, another person said, “It’s a person who prays a lot and I find that I am…

2 Corinthians 5:16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. A good question for today is: How do we evaluate our own lives? How do we evaluate others? In what ways do we think, in what ways do we perceive or decide and discern what is good or bad? More importantly, how do we see God - through what eyes through what mindset? And I love in 2 Corinthians, chapter 5 verse 16 and we’ll be reading from the NLT today, how it gives a description of exactly that: How we should evaluate things in our lives, including ourselves, including others, and more importantly, the Lord. "Do we look at things from a human point of view, or do we see and discover all things through God's point of view?" And so it says, “So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How…

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Hello and welcome to the One Thing podcast. I would like to share with you a verse from the book of Ephesians. It’s Ephesians chapter 4 verse 30 and it says, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” "What a wonderful gift God has given us - the Holy Spirit." As I read these words and this verse, my heart leaps to think of the Holy Spirit of God. The gift that God has given. The gift of God, the Spirit of God who draws us near to Him. The Spirit of God who creates a communion between us and the Father in Heaven. A communion with the Lord Jesus Christ as He brings Him into our spirit, into our soul. I think of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to do God's work and will. This Spirit of comfort, the Holy Spirit, which is the gift of God to allow us to do all that God has called us to do on this Earth. What a wonderful gift God has given us - the Holy…

Daniel 1:8-9 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel..." "The favor of God compares to nothing else." Hello, and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Today I want to talk about the favor of God. The precious favor of God you see in life, whether we're in a good situation or bad, regardless of our circumstance - whatever may be happening - when the favor of God is upon us, we can be sure that God will see us through. We can be sure that He will give us all that we need and empower us to bring about His will and to walk and to stand in victory. The favor of God compares to nothing else. There are so many people throughout the Scriptures that we can find were receiving the favor of God and we can see great exploits that they have done and things that God had done through them because He had poured out His favor. But one man in…

Proverbs 12:3 Wickedness never brings stability, but the godly have deep roots. Hello, and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. The Word of the Lord I would like to share today is Proverbs 12:3. It says “Wickedness never brings stability, but the Godly have deep roots”. If you think with me for a moment you might have heard somebody at some point in your life say “Sometimes you just have to come back to your roots.” "We are not to be swayed because our roots are not in this life, they are not in this world, but they are in His truth. They are in the Lord." When there is a time in life where you seem to have lost your way, or maybe you feel distant from God-maybe you feel as though there's more to life and living in the Kingdom of God and doing His work, but there just seems to be things that are in the way. Maybe you've lost focus. Maybe the world has just rampaged our spiritual life. We've allowed our spiritual life, our walk with God to dissipate. Sometimes in these moments we need to come back to our…

Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery "Before the Lord Jesus Christ, man was enslaved…" Hello, and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. We are close to Fourth of July weekend: the day where we celebrate in the nation of America our independence. This reminded of the verse in the Word of the Lord in Galatians five, verse one. It says: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” "Christ has set us free that we would be free to love the Father." Before the Lord Jesus Christ, man was enslaved– enslaved by every sinful desire, every wicked rebellion in his heart toward God to say, “God I want to live my own life, I want to do my own thing,” where man would accept maybe some pieces of religion, but yet deny the true power that goes past religion and allows us to truly overcome our sin and to live for God. But, I rejoice…

John 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. Sharing a word from the Book of John chapter 14, and verse 18. And these are the words of Jesus, He says, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” And this is Jesus; He’s about to enter into His mission to go to the cross and He’s going to meet with the Father in Heaven. But He’s saying, “Even though I’m going to go away, even though you won’t see me physically, I will not leave you as orphans.” “...it’s the power of God that He promises though the Holy Spirit to give us everything that we need to survive” And when you think of an orphan, an orphan is a child or a person that has been abandoned; left for themself, left to fetch in this life which can be difficult on their own - to go through life trying to survive without a parent or a loved one taking care of them and to guard them. But, the Lord says, for those that trust in Him, for those that have set their heart on walking in this life…

Matthew 18:4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Hello, and welcome to the One Thing Podcast. Matthew chapter 18, verse 4, says, “Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” Some other versions of this scripture say that if you “humble yourself as a little child,” and there’s just really the sense of having a heart of a humble child that is willing to admit their weakness, willing to say, “Mommy, Daddy, I can’t do it.” "This is the attitude, the heart that Jesus is calling us to have: to be just like a little child." This is the heart and attitude that Jesus says is so precious among Heaven. It’s not as though we don’t understand as we begin to grow older or gain wisdom in the Lord, but it’s simply the heart that says, “Father, honestly, when I really look at my life, when I really look at what I am capable of apart from your power, Lord, I see that I need you. This circumstance, this…

Hebrews 4:16 (AMPC) Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace Hello, and welcome back to the One Thing Podcast. I want to talk about approaching the throne of grace. Hebrews chapter four, verse sixteen – and this is the Amplified Version – it says, “Let us fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace…” And it goes on to speak about receiving mercy, and you know, really the blessing of God, but I wanted to focus just on this first part. “Let us fearlessly and confidently…” "It’s a confidence that doesn’t doubt that the Lord Jesus has made a way…" I have seen kids and people do things with confidence. I’ve seen kids that have been into the football game or the baseball game, how they confidently swing that bat or they confidently throw that ball, and adults who confidently go for the job interview or work hard to prove to the boss that they are capable of getting the job done. And those things are fine, but all of it is only temporary. "Grace:…

Luke 8:16 No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. "...why have a light and not let it shine?" Hello, and welcome back to the one thing podcast. Our verse for today is coming from Luke chapter 8 verse 16, and these are the words of Jesus saying “No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand where its light can be seen by all who enter the house”. "Have we allowed Him to bring His light into our lives and into our hearts?" This might be a familiar verse for some of us, but I love what the Lord is speaking about. He's saying if you have a light in your home, if you have a lamp or light - and in this case these men and women used to use literally a lamp that was lit with fire so it would really be dangerous to hide it under a bed or put it someplace under a bowl because it would burn or maybe cause a fire - but still in the same way…

Psalms 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Today, I was thinking of one of my favorite verses, Psalms 46 verse 10 and it says, “‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” Every time I read this scripture and I read the words “Be still”, I can't help but to think but to stop. Stop for a moment. Stop overthinking things. Stop going on to the next moment. “Be still”. This is an entrance into the presence of the Lord. To stop ourselves from just going about without hearing from the Lord. To stop ourselves for a moment, in the busyness of our day, which does happen, and to be still in His presence. “Without this stopping, without this stillness, we run around and wind up being so far from the will of the Lord…” He says to “know that I am God”. What does this mean? It means to keep things into perspective. When we're…

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. I was so reminded today of the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God.” “I pray we call on the power of Jesus today. To be also willing as He was to honor the Father....” As I read this scripture, I was reminded of the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. I was reminded of His willingness to sacrifice Himself. To come on behalf of His people, so undeserving, a people who were sinful. Christ has decided to do the will of the Father which was to come and to deliver His people and to save us from our sins. I pray we call on the power of Jesus today. To be also willing as He was to honor the Father, doing all that we can to seek the Lord, to grow closer with Him, and to be used for His…

Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Genesis chapter 50 verse 20: “‘You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.’” "Regardless of what was happening in Joseph's life, God had found him to be faithful." These are the words of Joseph who is now speaking to his brothers the very same brothers, who years prior, had attempted to take his life. And in the process, his life was spared yet he was sold into slavery being taken far from his home from everything that he was familiar with, into the land of Egypt. Now if you thought that that was bad, there was a moment where Joseph was even accused and convicted of something that he didn't even do, and he found himself in prison. We now see him in a time of victory. Regardless of what was happening in Joseph's life, God had found him to be faithful. Joseph…

Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed "...what did He fuel Himself most on?...He was being fueled by the power and the presence of His Father." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. The question of the day today is: What are you fueled by? Now we know we can easily look around and I see all sorts of energy drinks. There is all sorts of special foods that claim to give you the energy that you need for the day to fuel you in order to do the work you need to do - the schooling whatever it may be, the sport. There's all sorts of fuel, right that we take in physically. But what I find to be so much more important is what are we fueling our spiritual life with? Mark chapter one verse 35 says this about Jesus: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.” Now I love this. This verse speaks volumes to me. It speaks to…

Ephesians 5:16 ...making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. "We have the opportunity to walk with the Lord." Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Very excited to share with you a Scripture today God always brings and reminds me of in order to encourage on how to live for the Lord and what God is calling for and not only in my life, but in the lives of Christians. And this is Ephesians 5:16. Paul simply says this he says, “...[make] the most of every opportunity, [for] the days are evil.” And what does this mean? Paul is reminding us is the Lord wants to remind us each moment of the day, is that today we have opportunity. What is this opportunity for the Christian for those who trust in the Lord Jesus? We have the opportunity to walk with the Lord. "the focus of the Kingdom of God is simply God and bringing Him honor and glory." You see he says, “...the days are evil.” Now what does that mean? He's not just referring to the outright evilness of violence and drugs and many…

Ephesians 4:1 "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received" Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Excited to share a scripture from the book of Ephesians today. It’s Ephesians chapter 4 verse 1 and it says, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” Now many times when we hear the word “calling”, or we talk about “our calling”, we can get into all sorts of things or aspects of what that calling may actually mean. For some people, they feel as though their calling may be to be a doctor, their calling is to travel the world, or their calling is to own a business and we've probably had numerous conversations about our calling and what we felt in our lives or we’ve heard from others. Some people feel they are called to serve the Lord, they are called to give their life to God. “Our main calling in this life as those who are in Christ is to serve the Lord.” Ultimately when I look at this…

Judges 17:6 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Today we are reading from Judges chapter 17, verse 6 and it says, “In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.” "...we today as Christians are called to serve the King." This Scripture in the book of Judges was written around one of the most terrible times for Israel. There was no king to guide them and to help ‘em and to lead ‘em into righteousness - and it says that everyone did as they saw fit. Can you imagine everybody at that time doing whatever they imagined to be right? Having no idea of what the law was having no idea of what is right and what is wrong - no king to guard and to watch over the people? Can you imagine what society would be like? Can you imagine everybody just doing their own thing - not caring for one another not caring about the Lord not caring about our society not caring about our children. "‘Are we living like Israel in that time?’ - as…

Ecclesiastes 10:4 If a ruler’s anger rises against you, do not leave your post; calmness can lay great offenses to rest. Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. The Word of the Lord for today is Ecclesiastes 10:4. And it's really the second half of the verse and I really love this it says, “...calmness can lay great offenses to rest.” "God can allow us to step into a place of mercy, we can come into a place of reconciling things that we may have messed up..." And this whole verse if you read it, it's saying you know, ‘If a ruler's anger rises against you you do not leave your post; calmness can lay great offenses to rest.’ So bottom line what the Scripture is saying today is that if you find yourself in some trouble - whether it's in trouble spiritually, whether it's in trouble physically with your boss at work or maybe just something happening in our life. And I'm not just talking about a trouble from the outside but a trouble that maybe even you have caused, because we know that that happens,…

Proverbs 22:4 Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. Think with me for a moment today. How many of us at some point, maybe currently or especially this past year, have had moments where we worried about our health because of COVID-19, that has spread so rapidly, or other diseases or just in general? Maybe some type of health concern that we've had for ourselves, wondering what kind of nutrients we can take in, or vitamins, or how we can protect ourselves with maybe certain face shields, whatever it may be? At some moment, we may be thinking about our health and wondering how we can keep up with it. All the things that we think about, whether it's vitamins and all the different medicines, I'm sure that they're very helpful but one thing I want to talk about today is not only our physical health but the health of our heart. The health of our soul. “See, much more important than the body is the soul.” See, much more important…

Leviticus 11:45 I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy. Hello and welcome back to the One Thing podcast. What is holiness? What does it mean to be holy? Leviticus 11:45 in the Scripture says, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.” What a call God has for those who trust in Him! What a call that God has to be His! ”Holiness is a heart” He says that He brought us out of Egypt. Now for us, for many that may be listening right now, Egypt may be a lot of different things. Maybe God delivered you from some illness that you had; maybe God delivered your mind from a certain mindset; maybe God has even now begun something special that you know that He's doing in your life - either way, He is the God who brings us out of Egypt. He is the God who brings us out of the old, out of darkness and into the light, so that He can be our God - we can serve and love Him! ”I will live, God, as though I am set…
